You will create a fun and colourful Journal cover in the spirit of the Symposium theme this year, using the beautiful Lumière metallic fabric paints on black fabric.  The first half of the course will focus on design transfer to fabric, painting, involving techniques of fabric painting, blending colours, light and shade, design principles. These paints make it very easy to achieve excellent results, even if you are a first-time painter.  The second half of the course will be designing, practising and executing free motion quilting patterns to bring your painting to life, and sewing up the journal cover. Because of limited time, you need to have at least a basic knowledge of free motion quilting and I am happy to expand your knowledge and offer ideas for filler designs and demonstrate how to achieve these. This is a great project to extend your free motion quilting expertise, while having fun and producing a beautiful journal cover.
