Chris Jurd lives in the Blue Mountains outside Sydney and has been quilting for over 40 years. She started teaching 21 years ago and has a busy schedule of classes throughout the year at various shops in Sydney, regional NSW and interstate.
She has been on the faculty for New Zealand’s Quilt Symposium three times. She is also a member of QuiltNSW’s judging team and was a co-judge at the 2023 Sydney Quilt Show.
Her work encompasses all styles with an emphasis on a strong colour palette and a preference at the moment for foundation piecing. Chris has been a regular contributor to Quilters Companion and has recorded two DVDs for the magazine.
She has recently published a book Big Bold and Beautiful with the Quiltmania team.
As tour leader, she has taken two enthusiastic groups of Aussie quilters to Houston and another group on a fabulous tour to India in 2019.
She is also a great advocate for machine quilting on a domestic machine.
